FREEDOM FOR WHAT?

I have the distinct feeling the latest episodes of violence after the tragedy in Newtown are part of an "institutional" effort to erode our right to bear arms. It would be childish to deny there's a trend of violence in the country and that owning a weapon should be regulated and granted only to those in physical and psychological conditions to make a responsible and civil use of it; however, shootings every other day are too coincidental and extremely convenient to those hoping to bereave us of yet another right.

Now some obscure newspaper in the state of New York comes up with a full map list of licensed gun owners, their names and addresses; no outrage from the politicians, no unanimous condemnation by the main stream media, which seems to be stubbornly looking the other way. Digging into the how of this all I came up against something called freedom of information; funny this pamphlet violates our privacy using freedom as an excuse; clever I must admit; so there we have we the people running in circles, once again, whining about how we get screwed no matter what and my advise remains the same: it's us or them; so let's get on our asses and use the law with the same creativity these loonies do; what about creating a list of all those Americans that have visited the Cuban Interest Section in Washington?, a list of American so called journalists living in Cuba?.

I personally don't believe the president is a communist, although his inclination emulates that of the tower in Pisa; but neither were the Mensheviks; history proves that once the forces of totalitarianism are unleashed there's very little we can do. It's even in the communist platform; their golden rule is to build alliances with friendly bourgeois elements that facilitate their access to power, then get rid of them in whichever way, shape or form and do away with the capitalist state to build the dictatorship of the proletariat. Chavez in Venezuela has proved once and again that it is possible to subvert the western system from within using its own rules. Poor America has grown big enough to create a substantial social base to this purpose. So let's use the same ingenuity and respond to each attempt on our freedom with the same intensity, legally, within the boundaries of democracy, but with the stealthiness and effectiveness the other side has shown to be capable of.
