We have just heard testimonies of Gregory Hicks, second in command in the US embassy in Libya, Marc Thompson, counter terrorism specialist, and Eric Nordstrom, diplomatic security officer; they all put their jobs in the line to provide an accurate account of what happened in Benghazi. Their version seems to sharply contradict that of the administration and it appears to be clear that this government once again lied to us. Mr Obama was probably caught in the web of his electoral ambitions and overlooked the fact that this is not Mexico, or Ecuador, or Cuba; at least not yet.
While I would have never voted for the incumbent, I always respected secretary Clinton because I thought, and still think, she is a capable person with an untiring drive to excel in her responsibility; she probably made one mistake not heeding the call for security upgrade in Libya and that is human and understandable regardless of the tragic consequences her decision brought; but instead of admitting her fault and go on with her job, which to the best of my knowledge had so far been excellent, she followed her boss into a maze of lies, deception and cover ups. I still believe Republicans are spinning this for electoral purposes and that is sad; however, it is now evident to me that beyond all political pettiness our ambassador and his team were abandoned in Benghazi; that no attempt was made to try and rescue them alive, and that the president and his aides have been feeding us a pack of lies since day one. They knew then, they knew later, and they have always known what the attack was about and why it was perpetrated.
Lying to we the people is not exclusive to this administration, the previous one lied, Mr Clinton lied, I'm sure that president Reagan was well aware of the Iran - contra connection; and all lies are equally repugnant; but wasn't this the one administration called by history to save America from traditional politicians? I still remember Mrs Clinton, her veins almost bursting off her neck, in the senate floor lambasting then president Bush over the absence of WMDs in Iraq; once and again she shouted: " how dare you Mr. president?"; it would be great to ask her: How dare you Madame secretary?; how dare you Mr Obama? These two politicians looked the families in the eyes and flat out lied to them as they lied to us; they are as power greedy as all those old politicians they so harshly criticized.
