FAIRNESS CAN BE TILTED

Does anyone remember Mrs. Cindy Lee Miller Sheehan?; probably not by her full name, but if I say Cindy Sheehan and post a picture of a short haired blond lady giving the peace sign in front of former president Bush's ranch in Texas everyone will remember. She is the mother of the late Army Specialist Casey Sheehan and in the peak of her most publicized protest against the Iraq war the left loonies may have even considered to nominate her for the Nobel Peace Prize.
As a principle, I never put into judgement what a desperate parent may or may not do after losing a child; the pain is unbearable, the sudden void is impossible to fill; however, Mrs. Sheehan's bid for congress in 2008 stroke me as, to say the least, opportunistic and ill advised.

While She called Bush a liar, and the Iraq war a conflict for oil to make the president's friends richer, the main stream media was in a never ending honey moon with her; it didn't matter that the lady had publicly said she would rather live under Chavez than under George W. Bush; the "pinko" journalists trying to make a living now become rich editors in chief did not spare any adjective to praise her efforts nor to convey her message. Cindy Sheehan was the symbol of all things glorious, the human face of a divided America, of the rich v.s. the poor and of all the causes one might have thought of.

But when Obama took over, blessed by a solid majority both in congress and in the senate, and still chose to continue the war in Iraq and Mrs. Sheehan consequently cried foul, her genuineness suddenly seemed dubious; her publicized appearances dwindled until they stopped with a screeching halt. Her protest in Martha's Vineyard was the straw that broke the camel's back and the lady became a non person; the left tactfully deleted her name from any reference to the war; all of a sudden she had become a PR embarrassment, a pain in the neck, and she was no longer of use for Obama. Interestingly enough neither Rush Limbaugh nor Fox News have apparently made any attempts to let her tell voice story now; the right and the conservatives are once again slow and defensive rather than proactive; the left has once again proved how far it is prepared to go in order to silence dissent within its ranks; Fairness is so relative these days...
